Travel to Halifax will be required for in-person labs, classes, simulations, and observation days.

This program is completed over 16 weeks, including 35 days of preceptor-led clinical and a blend of classroom (online and face-to-face), skills labs, and simulations.

Part-time Perioperative Nursing Program for Registered Nurses

The part-time plan of study is designed for Registered Nurses who are currently employed or will be hired into the perioperative setting during the program.

The program requires employer support to ensure learner success, which includes time to participate in skills lab, exam writing, observation days, and clinical.

Travel to Halifax may be required for up to 5 days in-person labs. While every effort is made to provide required clinical learning experiences at the site closest to the learner’s home, travel may be required.

Registered Nurses with existing knowledge, skills, and/or experience fundamental to perioperative nursing may qualify to receive credit toward program requirements. This will be assessed with faculty at the start of the program.

Timeline

The part-time program is approximately 29-33 weeks depending on the clinical component, which can be completed in a block or integrated format at designated times in an operating room in Nova Scotia. During week 1 of the program, faculty will let learners know if they are in the block or integrated format.
