Overview

The Nursing Transition Program is an entry-level educational program designed to review current nursing practice. The program is offered to employees of NS Health who are assessed for this pathway upon hire. Nurses in this pathway require further education and training to close their competency gaps for safe practice. The program prepares new nurses to meet entry-level nursing competencies as outlined by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN). Successful completion of this program allows the new nurse to transition to preceptorship.

The program involves six online modules support with virtual classes from StFX, in-person NS Health skills, simulations and clinical practice shifts to support application of knowledge and skills acquisition of NSCN Entry Level Competencies. Please see the Plan of Study for more information about program structure and content.
