Plan of Study

The CIINDE Comprehensive Holistic Nurse, Nurse Coach & Consultant Certificate Program

The Comprehensive Holistic Nurse, Nurse Coach & Consultant Certificate Program will be offered virtually, and is a semi-structured program, which allows flexibility for the learner. Upon successful completion of the program, participants receive 135 continuing education credits and a TheCIINDE© Certified Holistic Nurse, Nurse Coach & Consultant (CCHNC-C) certificate. Graduates of the program are also eligible to apply to write the Board Certification Exams in both Holistic Nursing and Nurse Coaching through The American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation.

The classroom portal opens a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the course start date. The program is designed to be completed in 6–10 months. It consists of 11 classes plus 2 coaching collaborative days. All classes are recorded for those that cannot attend a class. Virtual classes are held during the first 6 months of the program. During this time there is a strong focus on transformative activities that promote trauma-sensitive care and awareness, self-awareness, self-development, self-care responsibility, and resiliency. Students will also practice nurse coaching skills with their peers and in a group setting.

Following the completion of virtual classes, students have up to an additional 4 months to complete the required coaching hours, which will include pro bono clients of the student’s choice. Nurses applying through Nova Scotia Health will be offered additional support during this time to explore nurse coaching skills in a managerial and/or leadership role, including group coaching. Note: this will include additional coaching collaboratives days to allow for dialogue and practice (during the final 6 months of the program).

Weekly Commitment

  • 3 hours in class during the first 6 months
