Part-Time Pediatric Nursing Program

This study option is designed for nurses currently working with pediatric populations at Nova Scotia Health and allows for work-life balance and autonomy in learning. Online, independent study is supplemented with mentorship in the clinical setting.

The program covers topic areas such as pediatric systems assessment, common pediatric situations like airway issues, diabetes, sepsis, fluids and electrolytes, and other commonly presenting issues. The program includes 30 hours of content delivered over a 24-week period.

Timeline

This represents a general timeline for the program. The exact delivery model may vary between offerings.

  • 24 online modules from PLS and 5 IWK modules divided into 6 sessions (3–4 weeks each)
  • Testing on completion of each module
  • Independent, online study (approximately 3–4 hours per week)
