Nursing Transition Program

The Nova Scotia (NS) Health Learning Institute for Health Care Providers is excited to announce the launch the Nursing Transition Program!  This partnership with St. Francis Xavier University has transitioned from Interprofessional Practice and Learning (IPPL) to the NS Health Learning Institute for Health Care Providers with the second pilot cohort starting in January of 2025.

The 12 week program is expanding to include cohorts in both the Central Zone and the Eastern Zone for Pilot 2.  Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) are provided knowledge content from St. FX online. Then they continue on at the Learning Institute where they receive associated skills, simulation training, and clinical support to achieve entry level nursing competencies required as they transition to practice at NS Health.

The program will be offered quarterly to help support IENs to complete transition training.
